AMISHA PATEL BIOGRAPHY

Amisha Patel is a Bollywood film actress and a theatre performer. Amisha Patel has been cited as one of the sexiest Bollywood actresses several times and she continues to ride the limelight. She was bon on June 9^th 1975 to Asha and Amit Patel. She is the granddaughter of Rajni Patel, an Indian freedom fighter and barrister. She has a brother; Ashmit Patel, who is also an actor in Bollywood. She was raised in Bombay and studied in cathedral and John Connon High School after which she went on to obtain a degree in Economics from Tufts University in Medford Massachusetts.  She came back to India after her gradation and worked for a finance company while modeling on the side. She has been a performer from the time she was young, since from five years of age, she studied Bharat Natyam dance and acted in plays.

Like many actors, she did not particularly want to act from the beginning. A friend of her father met her one day during a family lunch and offered her the lead role in what was to become the beginning of her life in  the limelight; 'Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai'. Her father’s friend was interested in having her for the role; which interestingly his son was going to take the male lead role. She accepted the offer and with the good performance of the film, she received critvial acclaim and several nominations for awards in bollywood; even as she was just one-film old. After her first stint, she went on to act in films like 'Gadar: Ek Prem Katha','Kya Yehi Pyar Hai', 'Aap Mujhe Aache Lagne Lage', 'Humraaz', , 'Suno Sasurjee', 'Elaan', 'Mere Jeevan Saathi', 'Humko Tumse Pyar Hai',  'Ankahee', Aap Ki Khatir', 'Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd', 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa' & 'Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic’, 'Kranti’'Yeh Zindagi Ka Safar','Yeh Hai Jalwa', ‘Parwana' Vaada''Zameer''Mangal Pandey''Teesri Aankh', 'Tathastu' among others.

For her performances in 'Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai', and 'Gadar: Ek Prem Katha', she has received four awards and got nominations for plenty of other films she has starred in. These two can be said to be the best in her career.

;Her personal life has been full of drama; to say the least. She got into a misunderstanding with her parents and brother, the former who she was accusing of mismanaging her money for personal benefits. She sued her parents for the return of the money that had been mismanaged. This must have been fuelled by the fact that Amisha Patel was going through a lot of problems financially and she was at a time when her career was facing a slump. She has starred in several movies that did not perform well on the box office

She has dated Vikram Bhatt and Kanav Puri, the former who she met in a film they shot together; 'Aap Mujhe Achche Lagne Lage'. She dated him for five years during the time she was suing her parents and broke up with him in 2008. There was a big rift between their two families during this time. In 2004 she sent a legal notice to her father for mismanaging her assets and accounts and demanded a refund of all her money. She maintained a tight union with Vikram and there were speculations in the press that they were going to get married. There was a report of her breaking up with Bhatt in 2008 which she confirmed and later on started dating Kanav Puri, with whom she broke up with in 2010 to concentrate on her career.

Among the information that is rarely known about her is that Amisha Patel was a recipient of a gold medal for an economics paper she wrote in the university and in 2003 she turned down a role in the film ‘Jism’. She also turned down a job offer at Morgan Stanley for a career in acting and her favorite movies include ‘Pretty Woman’, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge and Chandni. After her grafuation, Amisha worked as an economic analyst at Khandwala Securities but later joined a theatre group while plunging into modeling at the same time, with a modeling company that was responsible for commercials and branding and so forth.

She was part of an Air India controversy in 2006  where  a complaint about her was filed; an employee complaining that she misbehaved on account of her friend not being transferred to first class. She denied the complaint. Some of the most recent films she has acted in and some which are yet to be released include Run Bhola Run, Shortcut Romeo, Race 2 Bhaiyyaji Superhitt and  Paradise Street.
