Amisha Patel plunged into the world of acting when she was very young and the outstanding performance in her debut film in 2001 was what set her career rolling. Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai (Say...you Love me) was directed by Rakesh Roshan. It was the biggest film in 2001 and launched the careers of Amisha Patel and Hrithik Roshan. Rakesh won the award for directing and producing the film while his son Hrithik Roshan won the Filmfare ward for the best debut and the award for the best actor. In this film, Hrithik plays the role of an orphan who is also aspiring to sing. He; together with his brother are living with a Christian couple and he meets the character of Amisha Patel when he delivers a car to her home as a birthday present. They fall for each other amidst the challenges of dealing with his poverty and her family’s apprehension as well as the danger of Malik’s drug cartel. He is killed and while Saxena is trying to recover from the tragedy of the loss of her love in New Zealand, his look-alike turns up and falls for her. Amisha Patel is well known for this film as well as Gadar: Ek Prem Katha (Revolt: A Love Story), which was set in the Indian partition times. It was one of the most popular and starred Sunny Deol, Amrish Puri and Amisha Patel among others.
Hamraaz (our secret) was a movie that over Amisha starred in 2002. It was a romantic thriller directed by the Abbas-Mustan duo and also starred Bobby Deol and Akshaye Khanna. It got several nominations for Filmfare awards including best director award and the best villain award. This was one of those films that were a slump in her career as it did not perform as had been expected.
In 2011’s Ajay Chandhok’s action comedy Chatur Singh Two Star , the character of Chatur Singh is sent to south Africa to solve the case involving the murder of a politician and a cache of diamonds. In his path is a pretty woman (Amisha Patel) an overbearing boss, a mafia boss and a weird taxi driver. The performance of this movie wasn’t exactly as expected and it wasn’t the commercial success it was expected to be. In Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic (ALittle Love, A Little Magic), Amisha Patel plays the role of Malaika; Ranbeer’s girlfriend, which is a very minor role. Saif Ali Khan and Rishi Kapoor play leading roles in this film. This is one of the movies which despite the relative performance have increased the film experience for Amisha Patel. Among the best films under her belt include Om Shanti Om, which not only added to the many films she has starred in, but also redeemed Amisha Patel’s career. It is a musical that stars many other Bollywood actors and actresses, with Shahrukh Khan and Deepika Padukone have the lead roles. She makes a special appearance as herself in the film, which grossed more than 1.49 billion worldwide.
